As you can tell from this review I was impressed with this campground and the people who run the facilities. I will be returning and recommending this location to anyone heading to this area.

I am very disappointed by my recent stay at the Lakes Campground. We decided to camp there because there were many appealing activities for children. The view is also amazing. We rented a cabin for $143 a night and it was very overpriced for what we had. It was very dirty. The windows wouldn't close and the screens were ripped and bent and there was an immense amount of bugs throughout. There were spider webs in every corner. The dishes that were left were filthy and the bedroom floors were carpeted and we found pieces of popcorn on them from previous customers. There was zero water pressure, not even enough to use while brushing our teeth. The BBQ was filthy. The couch was very old and broken and every time my son was close to it would start coughing (and he has no allergies). I politely mentioned my concerns with the owner and she said she has repeatedly told the cleaners to do a better job but she gets frequent complaints. She also said the bug issue is not on her priority list right now because she was concerned with safety issues and replaced the floors in the cabins and the windows are very old and it is to be expected. The owner was not overly friendly and quite difficult and combative. I have never written a review before but feel compelled to write one about this campground. I was very disappointed.

Don't rent the cabins. Unclean, full of cob webs and are just plain run down. The outside of the door was a complete mess of spider webs and dead bugs. Aweful!

Lots of activities for kids, just don't let them swim in the cess pool lake. Broken bottles, beer cans, tons of garbage. Horrible.

We had an awful stay here. First off we requested a play pen weeks before we arrived for our stay. We where told there would be one for us, unfortunately one was not provided on until the second night of our stay. They had had five hours from the time we got there to the time they closed to accommodate us and nothing. I ended up having to sleep with my 14 month old because he wouldn't sleep on a mattress that was provided for us. When we talked to the owner about our problem all she had was excuses and gave us a snotty attitude it was very unwelcoming and I hate it having to go up and talk to her . Second of all they don't open until 11 so we had to wait to do canoeing or any other activities on their site. The weird thing is those they offer a breakfast menu but are not open for breakfast time? Our cabin had a broken glass window the windows weren't shut tight and the screens were ripped for bugs to get in. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. And on checkout day we had 5 hours of driving to do and wanted to leave early in the morning but unfortunately we had to wait until 11 before we could get on the road because nobody was there to check us out. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the view is amazing the canoeing was fun although expensive for an hour it's $14. I definitely would be finding other arrangements on my next visit up to visit the Cabot Trail.

PS their website advertised free wifi, however this is only limited to the store/restaurant as there is no service in the rest of the campground.

Stayed here as a base camp for our motorcycle trip around the Cabot trail. Our campsite was large, level and wooded. Very good.

Great location for travels on The Cabot Trail and general Cape Breton travels. Lots of things for family activities though we didn't participate. Beautiful views. Owners are great people. Interesting that we shared a Navy kinship. Only had one meal at restaurant which was excellent. You won't go away hungry.

I didn't stay in them, but the cabins they rent looked very nice and large.
